The tour begins with pickup by our bilingual local guide at Iquitos airport or your hotel. From the very beginning, you will immerse yourself in the cultural and natural richness of the Peruvian Amazon.
Your first stop is the traditional Belen Market, one of the most iconic places in Iquitos. You will explore the famous floating neighborhood and discover Amazonian products such as chonta, aguaje, acai, guarana, and other native fruits.
Walking along García Sáenz and Ramírez Hurtado streets, you will visit the spice and seasoning area, where turmeric, achiote, ginger, and other natural ingredients are sold.
The tour continues to the herbalist section at Pasaje Paquito, where you will learn about medicinal plants like ajo sacha, jergon sacha, cat’s claw, and ayahuasca, widely used in traditional Amazon medicine.
You will then visit the fishing area to observe a wide variety of Amazon river fish. The experience is complemented with a tasting of traditional Amazon cuisine, including juanes, tacacho with cecina, grilled meats, and suri larvae, a local delicacy.

Around 9:00 a.m., you will board a traditional boat to navigate the Nanay River. Within minutes, you will reach the meeting point of the Nanay, Itaya, and Amazon rivers, where the contrast of water colors can be clearly observed.
This area is home to pink and gray freshwater dolphins, which are often seen during the boat ride.
The journey continues with a visit to the Chullachaki Ecomuseum, where you will learn about Amazonian cultures, ancestral tools, and the traditional use of medicinal and aromatic plants. You will also be introduced to the spiritual significance of ayahuasca within Amazonian worldview.
After approximately 20 minutes navigating the Amazon River, you will arrive at Fundo Don Pedrito, a wildlife conservation center dedicated to paiche fish, caimans, and other Amazon species. Here you will observe these animals up close and learn about their care.
The route continues to the community of San Juan de Huashalado, followed by a short walk to board another boat on the Yanayacu River, navigating downstream to reach the Yanayacu Eco Lodge.
Upon arrival at the lodge around 2:00 p.m., rooms will be assigned and lunch will be served. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a peaceful paddle canoe ride along the river, listening to the sounds of the rainforest and watching the Amazon sunset.
The day ends with dinner at the lodge and time to rest before the next day of jungle exploration.
The second day starts early with a canoe ride at sunrise, one of the best moments to experience the Amazon rainforest at its most vibrant. During this early morning activity, you will observe Amazon birds in their natural habitat as the jungle comes to life along the Yanayacu River.
After breakfast at the eco lodge, you will begin an ethnobotanical walk through the flooded forest, guided by a local expert. Along the trail, you will discover towering trees such as ceiba, kapok, and machira, while learning about traditional uses of Amazon plants.
Throughout the walk, there will be opportunities to spot monkeys, sloths, and other wildlife species that inhabit this region of the Amazon, making it an excellent activity for nature lovers and photographers.

The final day begins with breakfast at the eco lodge before heading to Monkey Island, a primate rescue center dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of Amazon monkeys. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to interact with different species and learn about conservation efforts.
Afterwards, you will visit a Yagua indigenous community, well known for its artisan traditions. Community members will showcase their traditional dances and share insights into their ancestral customs, as well as their handcrafted artwork.
As a farewell to the rainforest, you will also have the chance to swim in the Amazon River, a refreshing and memorable way to conclude your journey through the Peruvian Amazon.
After lunch, you will depart from the eco lodge and begin the return trip to the city of Iquitos, arriving in the evening. Upon arrival, transportation will be provided to your hotel or the airport, marking the official end of the tour.
